Philadelphia \/ Orange, Ca.\u00a0– January 28, 2020 – Undefeated featherweight and world-ranked\u00a0\u00a0Ruben Villa\u00a0<\/strong>(17-0, 5 KOs) is winding down his training for his 10-round showdown with Cuban knockout artist\u00a0Alexei Collado<\/strong>\u00a0(26-2, 23 KOs), this Friday night at the Hirsch Memorial\u00a0Coliseum\u00a0in Shreveport, Louisiana.\u00a0The bout will headline a three-fight telecast on ShoBox: The New Generation and live on SHOWTIME (10 PM ET\/PT).

\nVilla has been working hard just outside of his native Salinas, California.<\/p>\n

“Training\u00a0camp has been good.\u00a0I have been training in Prunedale which is a little bit outside of\u00a0Salinas, but its close enough, so in a way I am home, but I am not at home.”<\/p>\n

In Collado, he is facing a tough veteran, who has an impressive knockout ratio.<\/p>\n

“Collado is a real strong aggressive\u00a0guy.\u00a0He is a veteran.\u00a0I\u00a0have to be cautious because of his power and play it very smart on our end.”<\/p>\n

With a winning performance on January 31st, Villa can see himself in the middle of the featherweight title chase as he looks to improve on his number-five ranking by the WBO.
\n“I feel like I’ve proven myself with the last couple of fights.\u00a0I feel like\u00a0I belong\u00a0in the top-five if not higher.\u00a0I feel that a win will set me up for bigger and better things. ”
